Former Auburn (and current Packers) DB Jermaine Whitehead was cited for going 40 mph over the speed limit on May 19 with three teammates in the car, according to the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel.

Whitehead was stopped by police after driving 110 mph in a 70-mph zone on a stretch on I-43 between Milwaukee and Sheboygan at 3:39 a.m. When the officer approached the car, Whitehead said they had to be at Lambeau Field in a few hours for practice at 8:00 a.m.

“Jermaine originally said he was going 75 to 80 when I asked him how fast he was driving,” sheriff Chad Baumann wrote in the incident report. “I told him his speed (110 mph) and the fact he was passing a semi at a high rate of speed. He did not contest this speed.

“I learned he and the 3 occupants were heading to Green Bay as they have to work at 8 a.m. I then learned they were Green Bay Packer players.”

Whitehead is facing a fine of $515.50 and has an initial court appearance scheduled for June 14.

The former Auburn defender played for the Tigers from 2011-2014, and after going undrafted, he was signed as a free agent by the 49ers. Prior to landing in Green Bay, Whitehead was a member of the Ravens’ practice squad in 2015. His first NFL playing time came with the Packers last season, mostly on special teams.
