One day after Auburn finally named its starting quarterback, Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn has a new headache to worry about following the arrest of junior defensive back Stephen Roberts.

According to James Crepea of AL.com, Roberts was arrested Wednesday night and charged by Auburn police for attempting to elude an officer and for possessing a firearm without a license. According to the report, Malzahn is aware of the situation but has yet to publicly release any statements regarding the situation.

Both charges are misdemeanors in the state of Alabama.

Roberts was expected to start at free safety for Auburn against Clemson in the Sept. 3 opener. It will be interesting to see if this event changes his status with the defense. Roberts registered 26 tackles in seven games for Auburn after appearing in every contest last season.
