The woman who accused former Auburn running back Jovon Robinson of physically assaulting her has renounced that claim, according to a report from AL.com.

In an email sent by the accuser to Tigers coach Gus Malzahn — which AL.com obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request — the woman said Robinson smashed her head into a door, injuring her face, shoulders and knees. The July 16 altercation, among other team infractions committed by Robinson, led to his Aug. 3 dismissal from the team, per the report.

The woman, who is a student at Auburn, did not report the incident to the police, according to AL.com. Robinson denied the allegations, and now the woman claims she lied about them in the first place.

“I was upset with him because he didn’t want me in his room,” the accuser told AL.com. “We were just arguing.”

Robinson was projected to be Auburn’s starting running back this season before Malzahn booted him from the team.
