Former Auburn standouts Rudi Johnson and Gary Walker were among the four National Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame inductees announced Thursday.

Johnson ran for 4,007 yards and 46 touchdowns while leading Butler Community College (Kansas) to two consecutive national championships in 1998 and 1999. He was named 2000 SEC Offensive Player of the Year during his first season at Auburn and rushed for 1,567 yards, which is the third-best single-season rushing total in school history.

Walker was a standout defensive lineman at Hinds Community College (Mississippi) from 1991-92 before joining Auburn in 1993. He recorded 148 tackles and 15 sacks during his two seasons with the Tigers and earned second-team All-SEC honors as a senior. Walker’s son, Gary Walker Jr., is a member of Auburn’s current team.

Both players went on to enjoy successful NFL careers. Johnson rushed for 5,979 yards and 49 touchdowns during eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions.

Walker played 11 seasons with three different franchises (Oilers/Titans, Jaguars and Texans) and recorded 427 tackles, 46.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He made the Pro Bowl twice (2001-02) and was an All-Pro in 2002.

The class also includes former coaches Troy Morrell of Butler and John Anselmo of Nassau Community College (New York).
