Some early fireworks erupted in the second quarter of the Carolina Panthers-Atlanta Falcons game on Sunday when former Auburn QB Cam Newton suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit from S Damontae Kazee.

Scrambling for additional yardage on fourth down, Newton slid after about a 10-yard run when Kazee leveled the hit on him, which sparked a brief brawl and additional flag on Carolina.

Newton went to the injury tent for a short time before he quickly returned to the game, and threw a touchdown pass to cap the scoring drive. The Panthers led 10-3 at the end of the drive midway through the second quarter.
