Once again, Alabama has demonstrated that the top Big Ten programs are still outmatched by the top SEC programs. With a second straight beating of the Penn State Nittany Lions – this time on their home turf – Nick Saban and Co made it clear that Joe Paterno’s team isn’t exactly close to competing at the highest levels of college football.

The Crimson Tide did exactly as expected Saturday in the dismantling of Kent State. The defense displayed why they are considered one of the top defenses in the country and the running game got the job done just as it has over the past few years.

Alabama has a very stable group of running backs in Tuscaloosa in Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy. Both will be very crucial for the Tide in order to compete for the West and make noise on the national scene as well.

All eyes are AJ McCarron and Phillip Sims for game one against Kent State. Saban has indicated both are equal and is not giving the media any information at all regarding the race.
