Janoris Jenkins was one of the cornerstones of the heralded 2008 recruiting haul by Urban Meyer for the Florida Gators. Upon arriving in Gainesville, he contributed immediately by becoming the 2nd true freshman in school history to start at cornerback on opening day and accumulating 3 interceptions during the Championship 2008 season.

Perhaps one of the top surprises of the draft last night was when the Dallas Cowboys traded up from No. 14 to snag the talented Morris Claiborne from LSU with the sixth pick in the NFL Draft. While the Cowboys had plenty of tape to look at, and Claiborne is widely considered a near sure thing to play cornerback at the NFL level, there’s one other connection that aided the Cowboys in their decision.

With the Aggies first season in the Southeastern Conference still ahead of us, many SEC fans might not be too familiar with the story of Texas A&M’s quarterback from 2011, Ryan Tannehill. As football fans approached the NFL Draft, we were of course overwhelmed with the Andrew Luck and RG3 discussion, but Tannehill’s name started to become mentioned rather frequently as Draft Day approached.

The SEC entered draft night as the favorite, and it ended as the favorite, with nine picks in the first round and eight picks in the first 18 selections. SEC football is truly dominant, as if you needed the draft to justify your thinking.
