James Van Fleet

James Van Fleet coached the Florida Gators for two seasons in 1923 and 1924, posting back-to-back winning seasons with the Gators in his only two seasons as a college head coach. Van Fleet’s teams finished 6-2-1 in 1923 and 6-2-2 in 1924, bringing his coaching career to a close with an overall record of 12-4-3 and a 3-0-3 record against conference opponents. He went on to serve a decorated career in the U.S. Army. Van Fleet passed away in 1992 at the age of 100.
