John Green
Elected to the College Football Hall of Fame as a guard for Tulane and Army in the 1940s, John Green was a two-time national champion as a player.
He coached Vanderbilt for four seasons in the mid-1960s. Green’s Commodores went a combined 7-29-4. He also served as Florida’s offensive coordinator (1960-62) in addition to coaching at Army, Tulane and Kansas.
Green died Aug. 4, 1981, in Nashville, Tenn. He was 56 years old.
