Mike Sherman

Known for his coaching career in the NFL, Mike Sherman put in a good amount of time in the college coaching ranks as well. After stops at Tulane and Holy Cross, Sherman got his first big-time job working as the offensive line coach for Texas A&M.

After four seasons in College Station, 1989 to 1993, Sherman coached the offensive line at UCLA which included Jonathan Odgen. Sherman only spent one season with the Bruins and returned to Texas A&M for the 1995 and 1996 seasons. Despite being named the Aggies offensive coordinator for the 1997 season, Sherman took first NFL job: assistant offensive line coach and tight end coach for the Packers.

Sherman returned to the collegiate ranks in 2008 when A&M needed a replacement for Dennis Franchione. In four seasons with the Aggies, Sherman installed a pro-style offense. The Aggies only successful season was 2010 finishing with a 9-3 record. In 2011 Texas A&M lost three critical conference games after leading at halftime. That led to Sherman’s firing on Dec. 1, 2011.
