Foghorn is 110 percent correct!
PS Army, could you shoot me a line at brian@saturdaydownsouth.com, when you get a chance.
Yeah Murf, I think he's Southern Cal's or UCLA's to lose, but its not like the SEC isn't trying.
TUCT at the bottom of every story we run this: EDITOR’S NOTE: Saturday Down South’s references to recruiting rankings are to 247Sports.com industry composite ranking.
Hairy Dawg77 --- yep, RedNBlack and your cuzzin HairDawg are right below. Jacob Eason is the highest rated QB to pick Georgia since Stafford.
No question ArmyGuy ... Ole Miss will have a ton of good news before Feb.
Yep.....about 11 eastern as mentioned above. Huge pickup for the Rebels.
Very, very good Cody. Good 'ole Sony and McKenzie and that win over Clemson left a mark.
Taters, I think they get better every year, seriously. When it comes to the elite highly ranked guys, they've gotten smart and gone with the positions that are easier to determine .... WR, RB, D-line, CBs .... tougher positions to project, I think, are QB, O-tackle, etc. I think they're figuring it out. It's an inexact science of course.
I think in a state like Georgia---where you are surrounded on all four sides by recruiting "enemies"---if you can bring in about half of the elite talent or more, you are winning the game. Georgia is such a talent-rich state.....AND you have the dynamic that, you know, Columbus is closer to Auburn than Athens, and Thomasville and Cairo and Valdosta are closer to FSU and Florida, and Bama, Tennessee, South Carolina and Clemson are going to be everywhere they can be...........it's a brutally tough battle to retain it. Probably the most challenging of anywhere in the country, in my opinion. Bottom line is, Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee WOULD NOT and COULD NOT win anything without talent from Georgia, so you know they're going to fight for their share of Georgia talent.
Fixed it for you, tschandler7105...... write me any time at brian@saturdaydownsouth.com. I figured if you have that much passion, you might be interesting to talk to some time.
Not nit-picking at all, Taterspaw. Bijhon wasn't in the final Rivals100 for 2014. He was I think 112 or 114. We use the Rivals100 for this comparison because it has been around every year since 2002. When it comes to the current class (2015) I prefer the 247Sports composite because it averages all services ... but it didn't begin until 2010.
Agreed gang ... I lived part of my childhood outside of Greenville, SC, and I still remember S.C. putting a message up on the screen "The REAL USC" before an FSU game. It was like 40-0 at the half, FSU, and they went back to "Go Gamecocks". This recent run has been amazing.
True, G-in-TX .... I have a feeling Cormier is going to end up on scholarship pretty quickly though.
Nah ... talked to the kid today. He had his reasons for waiting. Not too bitter, but definitely disappointed. Nice kid too.
He has quite the personality, as you probably know, Chris. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's what he becomes. He's hilarious.
I don't think this one was ever in any true doubt, ADB. He seemed UGA all the way when I talked to him.
HairyDog -- to a certain extent, you're right. But at the same time, if the top kids are committing earlier and earlier you guys wouldn't want to scrape the bottom of the barrel either. Some of the SEC classes are pretty much sewn up, 6 months out or not.
Hey Gamecock in TX, got your email this morning and will shoot you a line back within the hour. Thanks man!
Yep, he'd be 4th if we went 4 deep, but for the series we're trying to give fans a quick 3-deep snapshot of each school. Hell, some schools don't even have a real "big time" top three left, or their class is already so big they can't even seriously consider three more.

He's on this list because he told me specifically he wasn't a lock to any school and that South Carolina and Georgia were in consideration. Do I think he goes to South Carolina? Ultimately, no. But that doesn't mean he's not a target, ya know?
Yep, that's the note I put up at the top about 20 mins after writing it. Sad thing is .... the kid thinks he is, you can tell from the quotes. That means somebody told him they wanted him. Uggggh. I've already "contacted" the people who would know the real answer to this dilemma. Will update when I hear from them.
PS -- Gamecock, hit me up when you have a chance at brian@saturdaydownsouth.com. Appreciate your two cents on the site. Good dialogue!
