@Larryharrison - you have Auburn, Florida and LSU losing, that makes the SEC 6-3 (SEC has both teams in the BCSCG so the SEC will have their first loss in the BCSCG this year) [View]

Why would Bama want to go to BSU and play in front of 33,500 fans when every home game for Bama is in front of over 100,000 people?
That is why no-one plays at BSU, their stadium is too small to make the trip worthwhile. [View]

more BSU facts: 0-2 vs Arkansas (2000, 2002) and were outscored a combined 79-45. In 2000 Arkansas was a 6-6 team and 2002 they ended up 9-5. [View]

I think that LSU becoming the #1 team this week shows that the voters are starting to look at exactly what teams have done vs top opposition. LSU has already beaten three teams that were ranked at the time they played and one of them was in the top five. Not to mention that LSU STILL has to play Alabama, Florida, Auburn, and Arkansas.
BSU will never get into a major conference because it is only football. None of their other programs are anywhere near major conference level. It is a small school and its football team is the exception to the rest of the school.
Look when the PAC10 was expanding BSU was an option, the PAC10 took Colorado and Utah. Both of those programs (all sports and academics) dwarf everything that BSU had to offer. Will the Buffs or Utes be a top 25 program in football in the next few years? Probably for Utah, but that isn't the point, the whole university was an addition to what the PAC10 (now 12) had.
Look at what Texas A&M adds to the SEC: AAU certification (probably the top thing that they can bring), the defending women's NCAA DI champion, a historic football program, and all other programs that compete on the top level of their sport.
BSU has nothing else to offer any major conference. They will always be second class to the major conference schools. They will continue to schedule their one "tough" game a year and compete in a bowl game. But I see a time, coming very soon, where the voters finally of the cry "why not BSU?" with "Play a stronger schedule!!" [View]

I would have loved to have heard what Jeff Long wanted to say...
(as I imagine it)
(phone in Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long's office rings )
Long: (picking up the phone) Hello?
(On the phone is current Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe)
Beebe: Mr. Long, this is Dan Beebe with the Big 12 down here in Irving, TX
Long: Yes, Dan I have heard that you would call...
Beebe: Really? oh, yes, ahem. We in the Big 12 think that your University would be a great addition to the Big 12. A return to tradition so to speak.
Long: Really? You would like the University of Arkansas to join the Big 12?
Beebe: We think it would make the most sense
Long: (holding back laughter) You thought this out?
Beebe: (being serious) Yes, Mr. Long. We think it would be the best thing for the Big 12 and for your University
Long: You want us to join the Big 12, the conference Texas A&M is running away from and begging to join the SEC, the conference that we are an established member of?
Beebe: (voice starting to shake) yes
Long: OK, just wanted to make sure...
Beebe: well?
Long: That is an intriguing offer, let me think about it...
Beebe: rea
Long:(interrupting) uh, no. Thanks for calling (hangs up phone)
Beebe: lly? Hello? Mr. Long? [View]

TCU just joined the Big East. I live in Dallas, and as much as I would love to see SEC teams rotating through Ft. Worth. TCU is not an SEC School. They are a small school. It wasn't until they made the Rose Bowl that they got good coverage in the DFW Metroplex. [View]

Mizzou would be fun. Adding A&M and Missou would be like adding teams for Arkansas. [View]

It would hasten the end of the BCS and usher in the era of the super conferences.
The first domino started to fall last year with the movement of Nebraska and Colorado out of the (conference formally known as) Big12. The Big10+2 and the PAC12 were playing catch-up to the SEC. Now the SEC will eventually bring in 2 to 4 teams expanding to a 16 team league. The PAC1x and Big 10+x will be other conference that can easily adapt and get teams to meet the new reality.
The Big East and ACC will have to merge as the powers of those conferences will move to the SEC or Big10+x
You would then have four major conferences playing the highest level of college sports. In the SEC you possibly could have the following:
Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi, Miss. State, Texas A&M, Missouri, Florida,
Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Florida State, & Virginia
The Pac12+ would add Bosie St, Texas, and two others (Texas Tech?, BYU?)
The Big10+x would add Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Kansas, and maybe Iowa St.
The ACC/Big East would merge (talk about a HELL of a basketball conference!)
You’d then have a playoff of the conference winners facing off in a 4 team playoff (or possibly a 8 team playoff with 4 “wild card” spots)
Yes, being the king of conferences now is great, but the SEC has always been on the cutting edge, leading the change, not reacting to them. This is another game changing move for the SEC [View]
Comment on Ranking The SEC Running Backs…Who’s Your No. 1?

So the #1running back in the league last year ranks #3 on your list?
Lattimore had four, yes just four games rushing more than 100 yards. He had as many games where he had less than 50 (Arkansas, not known for being a stout run stopping team, held him to 30 yards on 11 carries)
Davis (who didn't become the starter until week six vs Auburn) had six of his last seven games go over 100 yards rushing. Three of those were over 175 yards rushing! In games he had more than 10 rushing attempts he had at least 82 rushing yards in those games. He rushed for over 1,300 yards for the season.
Trent Richardson hasn't topped 800 yards a season for both of his years at Alabama. He only had two games where he rushed for more than 100 yards. And that is with Alabama being a dedicated run-first team.
I'd re-do the top three as 1 - Davis, 2- Lattimore, 3 - Richardson. [View]
