Hmmmm... Sounds like this is going towards all that winning you all do. All those titles? More than half that can be disputed? You do realize since 92 Auburn has more Undefeated Seasons than Alabama right? And it only takes :01 to look that up. (This now makes 3 of the comments now checked off on the list)
Bobby Petrino is tainted goods. If Schiano was a "no" for what he "potentially" did, you can't bring in somebody who had a major scandal with a student. This is reminding me a lot of what happened when Saban was hired at Bama. I'm willing to bet there are 2-3 names UT really wants but they are in a period where they can't talk about it. Unless he doesn't want to be a head coach yet, how is Tee Martin not being publicly talked about? Oh yeah, USC is prepping for their championship game so I'm sure his Agent could have said "If word one about this is leaked to the press, we will walk away before the talks begin" I bet UT will make a splash hire and will announce it right before the Heisman Trophy announcement.
Let's play out the rest of this conversation.... I'll say your tears are so salty and delicious. You'll mutter something about 68 national titles I'll say something about the value of :01 You'll say something about Auburn being a cow college I'll then say something about never forgetting that Bama blew a 24-0 lead. Did I miss anything?
Saturday might be Saban's last game at Bama. See... I can do that too. He could be hit by a bus the next day just like any of us. Anything is possible. Using your logic, why go someplace where you're still facing Saban every year? It makes no sense this year to go to Arkansas. He would have to re-tool everything. Think Kirby Smart leaving Bama for UGA. The first year there was all the rumors, it made no sense, however the 2nd year when he knew he had a top QB recruit already locked in along with others, it made sense then to go. Here's the thing and thing about your own job search here. You want to go somewhere you can be set up for success. Which means I'd watch what Chip Kelly does cause all these agents do the talking for the Coaches because the Coaches need to be able to say "I never talked to anybody about the job" If (and that is a huge IF) Chip Kelly holds off on taking one of those jobs, I'd maybe put some stock in this. However, why would Chip Kelly take a Florida or UCLA job when Auburn could open up and he has players to run his scheme? Let's not forget, Tommy Tubberville also has ties to Arkansas. Nobody is talking about him taking this job. Also why not even talk to Houston Nutt? He was "successful" there too. Point is... This time of year, no coach is safe cause everybody wants to make sure their coach is safe and all of them will get ridiculous contract extensions.
Really? Holding can be called on every play in every game. This game could have easily been 56-10 if Auburn actually capitalized on every attempt Georgia tried to give away this game. Fact of the matter is when it came down to it Auburn's front 7 on Defense made Fromm look like a freshman. (Which he is so no shame there). The problem facing Georgia now is you have a choice of Auburn's Defense again, or facing a Bama defense which is every bit as good if not better than Auburn's. Fromm or Eason doesn't matter if the O-Line can't keep them upright.
This would be news if Pablo and Bomani weren't talking about their show on the air back in May around the time the Mike & Mike announcement was made
Reality: No offense but UGA will drop at least 1 (if not 2) to either Florida, Kentucky, or Auburn. UGA is always good for losing 1-2 games every year they have no business losing. Not to mention Tech is always good for an upset so I wouldn't just say something like "Kirby is coaching better" cause when it comes down to it, if the players aren't executing, it doesn't matter who the coach is. Kerryon & Pettway were both finally back to 100% at the same time this weekend and even though it was Arkansas, they still showed they could be as dangerous as any backfield in the country.
Had this conversation with a buddy earlier this week. When do the talks of Tee Martin coming home start? Or is he tarnished due to the last USC coach they poached was Lane Kiffen.
At the risk of being "That Guy" lets be real for a moment... Enough folks hate the hype that the Iron Bowl gets as it is. Do you really want 2 straight weeks Auburn vs. Alabama? Yes geographically it does make sense but like Dallas being in the NFC East in the NFL, does it matter? Mizzou is going to have to go a considerable distance no matter what their road game is
Except for the fact the players in question were cleared of all charges by law officials. The University has not come back and changed their stance hence the boycott.
As much as I'll miss the HBC, South Carolina could be hitting the jackpot at the right time. I'm not saying this would happen but think of the possibilities... SC Fans, how many of you would love to have Mark Richt? Chip Kelly if Philly doesn't work out this year? For the people who say that South Carolina couldn't get these folks, remember, they weren't supposed to land Lou Holtz or Spurrier to begin with.
I love this every time UGA is beaten by a team that is better. Richt is a great coach. Bama is the only fanbase that has a right to complain about not playing for a title every year (and if Saban loses another game this year, folks will call for his head, just watch) Now I ask SDS to have some fun with UGA fans. If you get rid of Richt, who are you going to get? I'll throw out the first one for you... Kirby Smart - Nope! If he wanted the job, he'd have it already. Remember "planegate" with Petrino at Auburn? If that taught anybody anything it's that most these coaches agents have deals in the works before before the coach they are replacing is even gone. I'd bet that he's already been approached about the position over the past few years. Now lets hear other names...
This is why I love the preseason predictions. Do I agree with his? Nope! Is this possible? Absolutely!
Ric Flair used to say "To be the man, you have to beat the man... WOOOOOO!!!" so with that being said, why not think Mizzou could have a shot? They've only one the East twice in their first 3 years in the SEC. Gary Pinkel is doing something right
I'm really curious to see who makes 5 through 1. (And I'll be looking forward to the comments when Cam Newton is listed) You can easily argue most of these players can be higher. Luke Joeckel pretty much made Johnny Football and Ryan Tannehill (who was a wideout at one point) 1st round picks and he is 24? Aaron Murray a choke artist??? I'd argue a majority of his losses were the result of UGA's Defense giving away the game, not him. Where is AJ McCarron on this list if the "Kick Six" didn't cost him the Iron Bowl of 2013, an SEC Title, the Heisman (yes I'll say he was the best QB that year over Jameis and the Best to come out of Bama) and a shot at FSU? The greats make great plays in big games. SECCG against UGA he accounted for 4 touchdowns... as a Defensive & Special Teams player. Sure other players on this list could be higher, but to say he doesn't belong this high is dumb.
I had a friend make a really great point the other day. If you are UGA. You need to tank the game against Florida and hope they find a way to win out. The thing is, it's never the guy that replaces the "Legend" you need to worry about. It's the one after him. Spurrier, then Zook. Zook lead to Urban Meyer. Meyer then Muschamp... The next guy is going to cause misery for years to come. So you want and need Muschamp to stick around for a little while longer. (Note: I expect UGA to crush Florida, but this would be the one year if you lose, it would cause Florida more pain to know that Muschamp would stick around)
This is honestly like comparing apples and oranges as they are 2 different coaches with 2 different styles. First off - Gus was not lucky last year. He came into a team that he helped recruit pretty much everybody there on offense, made good hires around him to use what we had on Defense. Not many coaches get that opportunity. Secondly - Love him or hate him, Cowherd is never far off in a lot of his points. When he is wrong he is the first to say "I was wrong, I made a mistake." He made a point after the Iron Bowl that gets no attention to back up his claims. They aren't going after the same players to build their teams and the Kick 6 was a prime example of this. Saban wants big and strong, while Malzahn wants smart and fast (Not that Bama players aren't smart, but it takes brains to run a triple option which is what Auburn basically is playing on offense). This is what is part of Saban's disdain for HUNH offenses. He doesn't have the personnel to practice against it where as when you run this sort of thing, you practice against it daily. At this time it's very premature to say Gus is a better coach than Saban. However Saban is realizing that he has to become smarter and change his style because of Gus, hence the Lane Kiffen hire.
Don't forget "Round Mound of Touchdown" or "Hefty Lefty" or even "The Abominable Throwman"
