if you've never heard of either school... then I'd say you ain't much of an oracle... maybe it's time to change your handle... just sayin' =;-) I'll give you the UMass Lowell... but it is obviously a satellite of University of Massachusetts system... I would wager they're located in Lowell, Mass.. The Winthrop one though... you don't get an easy off on that one... One of the better Division 1aa schools... have had a number NCAA B-ball tourney teams and a fairly successful baseball program... They are members of the Big South Conference and are located in Rock Hill, SC... see, you can learn something everyday... but yeah... let's see what happens when the competition level goes up a bit...
and a day later he is claimed off waivers by... drum roll please.... the BENGALS! how's that for karma!? KC drops him and Cincy snatches him... might be lots of handy game plan info suddenly available...
>out of Dorchester in Woodland, South Carolina< I know it's being picky... but... It's "out of Woodland High School in Dorchester, SC"... I don't know where Woodland SC is... or if there even is such a place...
yeah... I definitely agree... going into this season, knowing that Shane and the crew had a major turn around project on their hands... the main thing that I was hoping for, was for Carolina to rid themselves of the 2021 season "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" complex that they exhibited... look decent or good and win one week... then look awful and lose the next week... and just to be in the games with at least a shot in the end... not getting blown out... Evidently, that's still a work in progress... This season was better... but still have some work on that front... Maybe it's just a case of learning to walk before you can run... It would be great to wrap up the year with a bowl win... and over N.D. would make it a bit sweeter...
Not sure exactly what to make about Stog's entering the portal... David Cloninger of the Post & Courier had a good take on it... >Expected to depart after the 2022 season but to the NFL, Stogner’s decision caught many by surprise. Stogner hasn’t publicly spoken about his choice but other players in the past have put their names into the portal as a “just in case” option should the draft process not work out. Stogner, already graduated from Oklahoma and pursuing his MBA at USC, has one remaining year of eligibility and can immediately play next year as a graduate transfer. Players can also exit the portal and return to school if they so desire. < So it could be a case of him just covering all the bases, options wise... Just a hunch here, unlike others entering the portal looking for a better fit or more playing time opportunities... I don't think his "portal declaration" has anything to do with any dissatisfaction with his time/playing at Carolina... We'll just have to see how it all works out for him...
ahhh, yes... the good ol' Gator Bowl.... or for 2022 only... other wise known as the "We Both Beat Clempsin" Bowl... not to be confused with the "We both got Knocked out of the CFP by Carolina" Bowl... played later that same day in Miami...
butt hurt much Rickys...??? sheeze... nothing like running your mouth... you have no idea which of your "freshman studs" will actually see the field... much less, produce IF they see the field... and you have no idea what our roster will look like next year... so please... just drop the juvenile yammering and name calling... "sawed off big mouth"... really? that's the best you got...? That "sawed off big mouth Beamer" just dropped a big ol' can of whoop ass on phat josh... so there ya'go... how do you like them apples? =:-)
>Lucky to have played KY without their QB< huh... can you guarantee or prove that Levis playing would have given the Wildcats a victory? while watching the game, I noticed the QB getting sacked 6 times... plus a bunch of pressures... that's on their OL... Carolina DOMINATED the line of scrimmage... Carolina limited what their RB, Rodriquez did... he never really sniffed the end zone... So my question is... is how does having Levis playing change that enough to state that Levis not playing is what cost UK the W? Sure having your experienced, quality QB usually makes a difference... but how do you KNOW that that was the sole difference in the game? and just a little tip here... nobody shed a tear or put an asterisk next to their W when they beat Carolina last year because we played four different QB's... It's the same for every team... you show up with what you got... play the game and accept the outcome... just sayin...
There was no "decision" to be made... He had run out of eligibility... Regardless... I wish he could come back... Glad he played for us... and I wish him the best in his pursuit of an NFL career...
GatorMed... I sure hope your response was done via autofill... because it's pretty incoherent... Also, UF was NOT "ranked higher then the to begin with"(??? "then the" rather than "than the"?)... Both of the week 1 polls had SC at 26 and UF at 27... Most of the "talking head" pundits had wondered how SC, coming off of a 9&4 season, including a bowl win over Mich. and returning most of their offensive production, wasn't in the top 25 to begin with. Also, SC beat an FBS (Div. 1) school (playing second team and walk ons in the 4th quarter) and UF beat an FCS (div. 1a) school. And as noted by SoHardU.... everything will work its way out over the next few weeks...
There's only one problem with your article Adam… AJ reclassified to the 2018 class and will be coming in in the Fall… >Lawson originally was set to graduate in the 2019 class but reclassified to 2018 and that’s when Martin and company jumped in strongly on him.<
I think that Connor is right where he belongs… starting his coaching career… Don't get me wrong, I think Connor is one of the greats to play college football.. He has all the intangibles any NFL team could ask for… He just doesn't have the body to take the beating a QB gets there. Heck, all you have to do is look at all the injuries he endured over his time in the NFL. He was injured and lost significant practice and playing time at every stop he made. Nope, his future is in coaching… and he will be great doing that… Responding to a previous post… I think Garcia's "sell by date" has passed by… The one that I think could be a viable option is Dylan Thompson… A definite Spurrier protégé… young and healthy enough to give it a go… Most folks don't realize how good he was, as the wins weren't there as the rest of the team was in the start of the slide, talent wise.
Sorry… but I'm NOT wrong…the NCAA and thus, the SEC has minimum academic standards to meet… each NCAA institution can set their individual entrance requirements higher if they want to… As rolltide75 noted below… and you obviously did not follow Bryce's recruitment or predicament at all… Carolina was where he wanted to go… Muschamp held a spot for him as long as he could. He didn't meet the entrance requirements and wasn't willing to go the prep school/junior college route and he looked elsewhere. Simple as that… but of course, the article failed to mention any of it... oh… and kindly shove the jr crap up your… well, you know where…
>Thompson was committed to the Gamecocks, but informed them just before National Signing Day that he wouldn’t be signing with them. < Interesting… and interestingly, you forgot to mention that the reason he "didn't" sign was that he didn't meet enrollment standards at USC… but evidently he does at UT… From my following his recruitment, the USC coaching staff and administration did everything in their powers and within the rules of eligibility, to get Bryce in a position to enroll… Feel free to correct me if I have anything wrong here…
No, not a "northern guy"... he's from Miami and the BS about him being "somewhat dismayed"… is just that… utter crappola… I just love these "knowledgeable sources" that throw out whatever bs they want…
well, lost just about the whole backcourt from the Final Four team. Including the SEC POY, Sin Thornwell and his (and Duane Notice's) team leadership skills... along with one returning point guard who chose to get into some trouble and has to sit out a year to get back in Coach Martin's 'good grace's"… and the other point guard has suffered through an injury bug… and trying to mix in a number of freshmen and Grad Senior transfers. It's taken a while… but they eventually got the feet under themselves and played "good" or decent B-ball… competitive and giving the other teams fits.. but unable to put a huge number of wins together. The other league teams are upper classmen/experience heavy… that 's one reason the league has been so good, top to bottom, this year. I think we'll see a better, more balanced, effective effort and win total out of the G-cocks next year… I know the NIT isn't really where a team would like to be… but in this case, it wouldn't be such a bad place for them. A few more games to play and likely a chance to make a bit of a run… They are still a hard team to play.
hmmm… one player, already on scholarship, having contact with an agent… not kosher and definitely wrong… but not an earth shattering revelation… What is most bothering to me about the situation is that PJ's father, uncle and sister all played basketball at the University… EXCEEDINGLY dumb and stupid for him to be in any sort of improper situation.
>While I don’t agree with a governor getting involved in this thing.< I think that the Governor is standing up for the State and its' flagship University… sterk leveled some very serious charges, in public and outside of what would be considered proper league protocol, directly at Dawn and the University… AD Tanner did an investigation and found nothing to support the charges. Sterk has offered up no evidence, other than a tweet from a party that wasn't even in the arena… As I have said previously, his actions are akin to throwing a "racially charged Molotov cocktail"… and in this day and time, that is a very serious and dangerous thing to do. I'll ask this question of any fan of any other league school… "what would your reaction to the situation be, if it was your coach, school and state that was the one that was hit by sterk's actions"?
I'm with fuzzyvol here… on every article that concerns SC, you trout out the same tired BS… "the student section is a chorus of F… Ga." I wonder why, after 25+ Ga./SC games at both W-B & Sanford, I've never once heard an 8,000 strong student section chant… But you have… I wonder way the TV broadcast, for some reason, doesn't pick up such an orchestrated event. But you've heard it… I wonder why, you are the only one, repeatedly, claiming this "abuse"? I'm also curious as to why 10,000 Ga. fans come over to W-B every other year and put up with such abuse?? I had a twenty + year run of attending home games and I've never once witnessed any such behavior that you describe, I've been to every SEC stadium, save T. A&M and Missouri, multiple times… and except for the "one off twits"… and yes, even at Sanford Stadium, I've never what anything but a good time… Just some food for thought… I see from your handle, "armyret"… by chance did a DI treat you badly while stationed at Fort Jackson?
"cry babies"?? really? You've got an AD throwing out a racial charged accusation against a coach, university and basically a whole state… on a sports talk show, instead of handling it through the league office and athletic departments… all based on a tweet sent out by a former player that wasn't even in the arena… Tell me that the UGa administration and fans wouldn't react the same way… and don't be so sanctimonious about student section… I've heard plenty of crap from UGa fans while walking to and at Sanford stadium. Ask me about the time a dozen or so frat boys cussed out me and my two (at the time) sub ten year old daughters as we walked to the stadium… These "toughs" scattered like leaves in the wind when I crossed the street and requested that they repeat their comments…
>Mizzou is a classy school< Really? you say this after all the racial upheaval that went on "your" campus a couple of years ago? "classy schools" and their administrations don't throw a "racial charged Molotov cocktails" at another school, especially a conference mate… via a sports talk show… If there's a problem or incident that needs addressing, you handle it via the conference and athletic departments… Sterk absolutely torpedoed USC and the SEC… all based on a tweet by a former player that wasn't even in the arena… Now that's what I call "classy"… As soon as AD Tanner heard the charge, he started an inquiry into it.. The seven (up from the normal four because of the heated previous game) security personnel in the visitors tunnel way were interviewed… Per reports, none of them saw or heard anything… In Missouri's post game interviews nothing was said about any incident… So again, tell me how sterk "going rogue" on a sports talk show and impugning Dawn, USC and the State of South Carolina is "classy"? I'll tell you this much, regardless of the outcome, I'd be willing to bet that there is one league office and thirteen athletic departments that don't trust sterk as far as they can spit…
should read: Good luck WITH Dorian, Danged bad fingers/brain connection this morning… sorry…
>We used to be hyped, then someone had to wreck a damn motorcycle.< LOL, with his (married) girlfriend/mistress riding pillion, no less.. Good luck Dorian, Carolina was on him hard early, a hometown guy, so to speak… I think the coaching staff just got tired of him flipping all over the place and decided he wasn't worth all the drama…
>Rico Dowdle came on strong late in 2016, and transfer Ty’Son Williams was expected to add quality depth. They were hit and miss in 2017. Dowdle showed signs of life in the bowl game.< Can't speak for Ty'son's lower than expected output… but in Rico's case, if you bothered to even check, it just may be the fact that he suffered a broken leg in the third game of the season… that had just a wee bit to do with that "miss" part… and… he wasn't even suppose to play in the bowl game… but he did… and the game turned on a couple of big plays by him… Just sayin'
I love it… after the "hack and whack" job that took place in Mo. a couple of weeks back. Mizzou's head coach shrugged it off and said "we play a physical brand of basketball"… Virtually assuring a ramp up emotions… And they come in to our place and continue with the hacking… and expect what? The Lady G's, rightfully, stood their ground and gave as good as got… and won… and now, the AD plays this crap?? I used to be a big fan of Sophie Cunningham… but she's crossed the line this year… definitely a cheap shot artist… and then throws her hands up, as if saying "what? me? I didn't do anything"… I've got a tip for you Lady T's… you want to keep playing that crap "whack and hack" ball? Then you better put on your "big girl pants"… cause you ain't seen nuthin' yet… oh, and your getting a reputation around the league for your cheap a$$ed crap… I can't wait for round 3….
It actually could have been worse for the Big12… both Carolina and Georgia had late leads in their games… just couldn't hang on… Don't know about UGa's game… but the G-cock's game took on a bit of the look of 5 man football on the hardwood… Very physical game… and T Tech is a very good, Jr & Sr laden team… Wish we could have pulled it out…
The pay grade is better at clempsin than as an NFL rookie… Besides, it's tax free since it comes in through the "back door"… And Weagle… here's a tip for you… dabo doesn't give a crap about anyone other than dabo… Do a bit of research and see what clempsin and dabo are really all about…
>Rico Dowdle, South Carolina, Dowdle was a stud in 2016 as a true freshman (784 yards rushing in only a partial season). His 2017 season was disappointing, as he finished with just 251 yards rushing.< Gee, I wonder why his 2017 season was "disappointing"… might be because he missed most of the season with a BROKEN LEG… Kind of forgot to mention that… along with the deep thigh bruise he was dealing with before he broke his leg…
and yet The State newspaper has a report that B-Mac IS expected to stay… Gee… which report to believe here??? I guess that we'll just have to wait and see what Coach Muschamp and Coach B-Mac decide to do going forward…
How wonderful… an A&M fan throwing shade on Carolina… Maybe if A&M hadn't given up fifty whatever points… to a good, not great, Wake Forest team, they would have rep'd the SEC a bit better… I understand the coaching change and all… But you guys still had the vaunted John Chavis working as DC… no excuse for that shoddy defensive effort…. As for Miss. St. not being in the Outback Bowl… might have something to do with laying an egg in the Egg Bowl… Now, that said, full congrats to Miss St. and their effort and victory in the Taxslayer Bowl… WELL DONE GUYS!!
