The Cleveland Browns drafted former Florida WR Antonio Callaway in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, taking a flyer on the talented receiver who can’t stay out of trouble off the field.

Already, he’s had an issue with marijuana being found in his vehicle, and as a punishment, he was forced to play extra snaps in the team’s preseason opener.

Callaway has been trying to win back his teammates’ respect, and on Tuesday, QB Baker Mayfield, the No. 1 overall pick, said Callaway has accomplished that task with him (via ESPN.com):

“From me, he earned it,” Mayfield said. “I can’t speak on everybody’s behalf, but I hope it was the same way.”

Mayfield added that Callaway has a lot of support in the Browns’ locker room, with plenty of people giving him positive reinforcement:

“My message to him was just to fight through it and keep pushing,” Mayfield said. “I wouldn’t necessarily say my message and my message only was the determining factor. You have a lot of guys that are pushing him in the right way, making sure that he is doing the right things.”

Callaway had three catches for 81 yards in his preseason debut, including an impressive 54-yard touchdown.
