Nobody knows what the future holds for Florida star receiver Antonio Callaway.

He hopes it’ll be an NFL future after he left Gainesville early. But, of course, Callaway will have a lot of convincing to do during the pre-draft process.

After all, he missed the entire 2017 season because he was suspended for being charged in a credit card fraud scandal. That was after he was accused of sexual assault and cited for marijuana possession during his tumultuous Florida career.

Will an NFL team be willing to take a chance on the troubled receiver? That remains to be seen.

One AFC executive was asked about the former Florida wideout. He didn’t exactly campaign for Callaway.

Here was the quote from the AFC executive (via NFL.com):

“Really natural athlete and pretty good player but there are just too many headaches to deal with so I can’t see us taking a chance on him. Our owner will say no and I don’t even think we would put him on our board to be honest.”

That’s obviously the biggest hurdle facing Callaway. On the field, the speedy wideout managed 2 productive seasons in which he racked up 1,399 yards and 7 touchdowns for a woeful Florida offense. He also contributed in the return game.

Callaway wasn’t in Bleacher Report’s 7-round mock draft, but he did receive an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis next week.

Perhaps Callaway can use that opportunity to change the minds of several NFL executives.
