Earlier today, the Associated Press released the preseason Top 25 poll for the 2014 college football season. As expected, the Florida Gators were left out of the Top 25 for the first time since 2003, back in the Ron Zook era. In addition to the AP Poll, Florida was also unranked in the Coaches’ Poll that was released back in July.

Although the Gators are on the outside looking in, perhaps what’s even more daunting is the schedule that awaits them. Florida will face six teams that are ranked in the AP Top 25 poll, including road games against No. 1 Florida State and No. 2 Alabama. This is the first time that a team has had to face the top 2 teams in the preseason AP poll since Penn State was dealt a similar fate back in 2010.
