For the short time that Dan Mullen has been on the job, Florida fans have to be excited about his ability to recruit.

On Saturday, Mullen and Florida landed a commitment from one of the top receivers left on its board, WR Justin Watkins. The Clermont, Florida, native is rated as the nation’s No. 115 overall prospect, the nation’s No. 21 overall WR and the state of Florida’s No. 23 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

When Mullen held his introductory press conference at Florida, he spoke about the need to get playmakers like Percy Harvin and others into the program. The 5-foot-11, 172-pound prospect certainly fits the playmaking bill.

Watkins was initially down to Alabama and LSU in early January, but Florida changed things. Mullen’s ability to make headway with Watkins is certainly promising.
