After a strong start to the Atlanta Falcons’ third preseason game against the Miami Dolphins, former Florida safety Keanu Neal departed with an injury.

While tracking down a pass in the flat, Neal seemed to plant wrong and tweak his right knee before attempting to make the tackle in the second quarter. He went to the ground and was helped off of the field by trainers.

His return to the game was officially listed as questionable, but it’s unlikely the Falcons would risk the health of their first-round pick in a preseason game.

The injury spoils what was a strong start for the former Florida standout. He flashed his hard-hitting ability and tremendous instincts while racking up a handful of tackles in the first quarter.

Neal will have a couple of weeks to recover before the Falcons’ season opener on Sept. 11.
