Florida RB Lamical Perine provided one headline-grabbing quote after another at Monday’s SEC Media Days in Hoover, Alabama: Perine called Gators fans bipolar. He had a hashtag-worthy response to being asked about telling Nick Saban, “No.” The Alabama native also shared that Auburn, a 2019 UF opponent, labeled him slow when he was a recruit. Those weren’t the only SEC teams he talked about.

Perine was asked whether he considers Tennessee to be one of Florida’s rivals. He does not.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a rivalry,” Perine told reporters. “It’s just another game. I wouldn’t call it a rivalry. LSU, that’s a rival game. We look at Tennessee like it’s just another game.”

Perine didn’t directly diss or troll Tennessee, but the two schools are viewed as traditional rivals, so it’s safe to say he didn’t make any new friends in Big Orange Nation. (Media members, however, likely appreciated Perine being candid.)

It’s worth mentioning that Perine was a freshman in 2016 when UT last beat Florida, meaning he should be well aware that offseason trolling a la Jalen Tabor can backfire and come back to haunt a player. Florida has won the last two meetings since the “ducks don’t pull trucks” Tabor-Jauan Jennings game.

Florida and Tennessee face off in Gainesville on Sept. 21.
