Florida has hired Kerry Dixon II as its new wide receivers coach sources have told FootballScoop.com.

Dixon comes to Gainesville from Florida International where he coached running backs last season. He previously assisted at Florida Atlantic.

Last fall was the first year the Gators had sizable production from a single receiver in several seasons. Demarcus Robinson caught 53 passes for 810 yards and seven touchdowns. First-year coach Jim McElwain signed two receivers in Florida’s 2015 class — Antonio Callaway and Kalif Jackson.

FIU didn’t have a 1,000-yard receiver last season under Dixon. The Panthers’ leading pass-catcher was Jonnu Smith with 61 receptions for 710 yards and eight scores.
