The Gators and Hurricanes have been a great rivalry to watch over the years.

Now imagine if you could watch the two teams compete in the Bahamas? Well, former Florida coach Steve Spurrier tried to make that happen when he arrived as the Florida head coach in December of 1989.

The “Head Ball Coach” was on Sirus XM College and shared that he wanted that rivalry game to happen outside of the United States.

The flight from Miami to the Bahamas is less than an hour away, making it an ideal location for fans from both schools to make the trip to one of the most well-known luxurious spots on the planets.

For players, it would have been a dream to play a regular season game in one of the premier destinations for college kids. For the past few seasons, the Bahamas Bowl has been very successful. This game would have thrived in the vacation destination.

While Spurrier was at Florida, the two teams only played each other once — the 2001 Sugar Bowl — Miami cruised to a 37-20 victory.
