Lamical Perine is already in the running as one of the more outspoken players in the SEC this season. The Florida running back is one of the Gators representatives at SEC Media Days this week, and recalled his recruitment before he made it to Florida’s campus.

A 3-star recruit out of Mobile, Alabama, Perine was an early enrollee to Florida after he had 11 offers, according to 247 Sports. He was ranked the No. 17 player in Alabama in the state in the Class of 2016. Tim Skipper and Geoff Collins were listed as his Florida recruiters, while Alabama tried to flip his commitment with Burton Burns and Lane Kiffin. However, Alabama’s push was not enough, as Perine recalled on Monday.

Told that no one says no to Saban, he replied, “Lamical Perine does.”

Last season, Perine led the team with 134 carries, 826 rushing yards and seven touchdowns… Caught 13 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown. He also led the team in total yards (996) and was second in scoring. Two years ago, he led the team with 136 carries, 562 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

While Alabama is not on Florida’s schedule this season, there’s a chance the Gators could meet the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship and Perine would be on the field against the staff who tried to change his mind.
