OFFENSE: A-

All season long, offense has been an issue for the Florida Gators. Not the case this afternoon. The Gators racked up 53 points and 430 yards of offense. Ironically, they found most of their success through the air and not on the ground. Treon Harris and Jeff Driskel combined for 326 passing yards, the second-most passing yards on the season. Florida went big on several passes, taking chances downfield and it paid off. Both Harris and Driskel converted on deep passes and Driskel, in particular, looked very comfortable during his time in the game.

The main beneficiaries of the passing game were receivers Demarcus Robinson and Quinton Dunbar. The two both had more than 100 receiving yards apiece, becoming the first wide receiver duo to record at least a 100 receiving yards in one game under Will Muschamp.

As the far superior team, the Gators’ offense performed as it should have against EKU and never let off the gas pedal.

DEFENSE: A+

As usual, Florida’s defense turned in another outstanding performance. The Gators allowed just three points all game and EKU only accumulated 142 yards of offense. EKU also attempted several trick plays, only to see each of its attempts snuffed out by UF’s defense.

With the exception of a turnover by Florida’s offense that gave EKU the ball in the red zone, the Colonels never really threatened to score a touchdown all game. Muschamp may not have won enough games while at Florida, but his defenses were always some of the best in the conference and that held true today.

SPECIAL TEAMS: B+

The special teams unit didn’t have any huge plays. Kick returner Andre Debose had some quality returns, but nothing game breaking. The biggest highlight of the special teams’ unit came on Austin Hardin’s 48-yard field goal, which looked like it could have been could from 60 yards out.

COACHING: B+

Penalties weren’t as big of an issue today for the Gators, who returned back to their usual five penalties a game. However, the coaching struggled on offense at times, with some very conservative playcalling once again. Even at times where the Gators were in position to take advantage of some big plays offensively, they stuck with the inside zone run and somehow made scoring 53 points look somewhat uneventful.

Nevertheless, it’s always great to see an outgoing coach like Muschamp go out with a dominating win in his final home game at the Swamp.

OVERALL: A-

This was a huge mismatch this afternoon and it played out that way on the football field. Florida never left the game in doubt, controlling the tempo and the scoreboard for virtually all 60 minutes. The Gators executed well on both sides of the football and looked sharp in their tune up game before taking on Florida State next week.

They’ll need a near perfect performance in Tallahassee if they want to have designs of upsetting the No. 3 ranked Seminoles.
