The Florida coaching rumors are officially in full swing.

FootballScoop.com is now reporting that New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is thought to be a “viable candidate” by Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley.

From the report:

Per sources, I understand that Foley considers New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels a viable candidate and is vetting him as well … McDaniels has spent most of the past decade with the Patriots in various capacities and would come with the very high recommendation of Robert Kraft and more importantly Bill Belichick.

McDaniels is best known for his time with the Patriots. Over the span of 13 years, he’s served as the team’s personnel assistant, quarterbacks coach and has now been offensive coordinator since 2012.

His only head coaching stint came with the Denver Broncos from 2009-10. He finished with an 11-17 record and was fired a few weeks prior to the end of the 2008 season.

The draw with McDaniels comes from his offensive success and NFL experience with one of the most consistent and premier franchises in the entire league. His experience coaching Tom Brady is also a huge plus.

Perhaps his finest moment as a coach was the 2007 season with the Patriots, when McDaniels was the offensive coordinator, New England set NFL records for touchdowns and points scored en route to a perfect 16-0 regular season.
