The Texas Longhorns have already scheduled the likes of Alabama, Georgia and LSU over the next decade, and they are attempting to schedule another SEC powerhouse.

Per a report from Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman, Texas AD Chris Del Conte is trying to arrange a home-and-home series with the Florida Gators for the 2030 and 2031 seasons. The Horns AD wouldn’t confirm the report however.

Obviously, Texas adding big-time opponents to its future schedule only lowers the probability that we’ll see the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry return anytime soon.

Historically, Florida has been somewhat reluctant to play powerhouses for a home-and-home series. With the usual brutal SEC slate and the annual Florida-Florida State rivalry, the Gators schedule is always loaded. Adding Texas would make those two years that much more difficult.

However, these types of games are great for college football, and a home-and-home series with Texas and Florida would a nice addition.
