Remember when Alabama made Tim Tebow cry?

Well, it turns out the 2009 SEC Championship Game loss to Alabama wasn’t the first time something Alabama-related has made the former Florida quarterback and current SEC Network analyst shed tears.

Tebow was in Alabama Wednesday night speaking at a high school football stadium in Albertville about a life of faith in sports, according to a report from AL.com. He apparently spoke about “a divine plan for every life” in front of as many as 14,000 people at the religious event.

Tebow recalled the time when he was trying to make a decision about which college to play football at. Alabama and LSU were a couple of SEC teams in his final Top 5, along with Florida.

Tebow said it was a final conversation with his father that made the difference — when he told his dad his top priority was to be around great people, or in this case, one person.

“I love a lot of people at Alabama, I love [Alabama] Coach [Mike] Shula,” Tebow said. “But honestly, it would probably be Coach Meyer. There’s something special about him. When I talk to him, I believe in what he’s saying and he believes in me.”

Tebow said he called Shula to tell him he had chosen Florida, to which Shula replied that he loved him just as much as he had getting to know him and that he was sure he’d be successful wherever he went.

“I was very emotional,” Tebow said. “I started to cry. That’s not the only time Alabama made me cry.”

That drew a laugh from the crowd in attendance, and one Alabama fan apparently shouted, “Roll Tide.”

“That’s not that funny,” Tebow replied back.
