The Gators entered the week with eight commitments in the 2020 recruiting cycle but will head into the weekend down to six pledges in the class.

If you missed the news earlier in the week, Florida lineman Josh Griffis decommitted from the Gators and now top 100 prospect Keyvone Lee has done the same. A Clearwater native, Lee is rated as a four-star prospect and the nation’s No. 4 athlete for the 2020 recruiting cycle by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Lee currently holds scholarship offers from Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, LSU and Tennessee out of the SEC.

Lee originally committed to Dan Mullen’s program back in March of 2018. Following this news, Florida still will have one of the top 2020 recruiting classes in the nation as the Gators hold commits from five four-star prospects.

The 6-foot, 216-pound Lee announced the news with the following statement on Twitter:

“I would like to give a big thanks to the University of Florida for giving me an opportunity to showcase my talent with them and for the love they shown me and the fans but after talking with my family, I have decided to reopen my recruitment. Florida is still one of my top schools but I think it’s best for me to open it back up my senior year. Please respect my decision. No interviews.”
