All eyes will be focused on the Florida Gators offense this evening as they prepare to take on the Idaho Vandals to open up their 2014 season.

Offensive coordinator Kurt Roper enters his first season in the Orange and Blue with promises of a quicker spread offense and a system that will play to the dual-threat strengths of quarterback Jeff Driskel. Patience is wearing thin among the Gator faithful and a sluggish start against the Vandals tonight will only heighten the criticism and worry that not much has changed.

Earlier this week, Roper explained that he understands the gravity of the situation concerning coaching the offense.

“I hope we meet expectations,” Roper said. “Whenever you are coaching at the University of Florida, the expectations are to win football games. That’s the bottom line.”

The jury is still out on Roper. Reports out of camp suggest that fans should expect a drastically different and much improved offense. Time will tell, but a dynamic showing from Roper and his offense will instill some optimism as the Gators move on to next week.
