With last year’s starting quarterback Luke Del Rio out with a shoulder injury, redshirt freshmen Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask will get plenty of reps to impress this spring. Will either of the young quarterbacks supplant Del Rio and earn the starting job?

On Tuesday, Franks showed off his strong arm, as seen in the video above, completing an out route against no defenders during a practice session.

He opened spring practice as the first-string quarterback, turning in a nice highlight early in the session:

The former 4-star recruit has an outside chance of landing the starting job to open the 2017 season if he impresses at spring practices.

Del Rio didn’t do much to hold onto his job during the 2016 season, so if Franks continues to show off a big arm and makes big plays, there could be a changing of the guard in Gainesville when the fall season starts.
