On Saturday night, country legend Garth Brooks stopped in Gainesville for a show at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (aka, The Swamp).

The Florida Gators, who occupy that stadium, started a tradition this year where they honor late rockstar Tom Petty by playing “Won’t Back Down” at the end of the third quarter.

During his show, Brooks decided to pay tribute to the legendary musician, too. As you can see below, he gave his own rendition of the song, much to the delight of the fans:

The Gators honoring Petty was one of the coolest new traditions of the 2018 season, and it’s likely to carry over into 2019 as well.

If visiting musicians want to continue paying tribute to the rock superstar, we’re here for it.
