Outgoing Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp may be losing his job after the season is over, but he’ll one of the hottest commodities available for defensive coordinator this offseason.

His name has been thrown around as a potential defensive coordinator at a number of schools already, including SEC schools like Auburn, South Carolina and Texas A&M.

At his weekly press conference on Monday, Muschamp denied any contact has been made by another school in regard to a defensive coordinator position.

“No one’s reached out to me,” Muschamp said. “I have no idea [if it’s respect of being in-season], but no one has reached out to me.”

Muschamp could never develop enough consistent success on offense, but it was an entirely different story on defense. The Gators were constantly one of the top defensive teams in the SEC during Muschamp’s tenure, finishing no lower than third in the conference in yards allowed since 2012.

Schools may not have reached out to Muschamp yet, but it’s only a matter of time before his phone starts ringing.
