2014 East Carolina vs South Carolina
Steve Spurrier captured his 200th victory as a SEC head coach as South Carolina bounced back from a 2014 season-opening loss to Texas A&M with a hard-fought win over neighboring rival East Carolina.
Nursing sore ribs, junior tailback Mike Davis tallied 101 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries to offset the Pirates’ 321 yards through the air. South Carolina’s defense against the pass remained an issue after giving up 16 first-half points, but the Gamecocks settled down after intermission and picked off multi-year starting quarterback and highly-decorated passer Shane Carden twice in the third quarter.
No. 21 South Carolina managed to keep its school record four-year stay in the Top 25 stay intact with the win.
