2014 South Carolina vs Kentucky

In what amounted to a thrilling victory for the Kentucky Wildcats, Mark Stoops’ team made a huge statement in their comeback win over the South Carolina Gamecocks.

The Gamecocks got off to a hot start, thanks to a ground-and-pound offense that overwhelmed Kentucky’s defense. Junior running back Mike Davis would go on to enjoy a career night, rushing for 183 yards and three touchdowns.

However, the Wildcats responded. Their own running back, sophomore Jojo Kemp, did his best to match Davis’ excellence on this night. Kemp did the most damage out of the wildcat and scored all three of his touchdowns of that formation. He finished the night with 131 rushing yards.

In the end, it was a crucial pick-six by Kentucky defensive end Alvin “Bud” Dupree that eventually sealed the win for the Wildcats. After a pass by Dylan Thompson was deflected up into the air at the line of scrimmage, Dupree was able to get under it and march it in for six on a short return. The score put the Wildcats up 45-38 and Kentucky never looked back en route to a season-defining win.
