Georgia fans are hammering Robert Griffin III for comments during UAB broadcast
Stetson Bennett had a remarkable showing on Saturday afternoon — matching a Georgia record with 5 touchdown passes, all coming in the first half — but make no mistakes about it: JT Daniels is still the Bulldogs’ starting quarterback when he’s healthy.
Yet, Robert Griffin III, the former Baylor and NFL QB who is in his first year as a broadcaster, made a questionable comment during coverage of the UAB-Georgia game on ESPN2, implying that the Bulldogs may have a quarterback controversy moving forward. For those who have watched Daniels, they know that’s not going to be the case.
Bennett may have impressed against UAB, but he had an opportunity to start against tougher opponents in 2020, and he did not put up these types of numbers. Meanwhile, Daniels not only played well in late 2020, but he led Georgia to a win over Clemson in Week 1 this season.
Bulldogs fans took this opportunity to roast RG3 on Twitter for his comments:
RG3 just explained Georgia has a QB controversy. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

Somebody come get RG3. This damn fool has lost his mind on this @espn broadcast of the #UABvsUGA game.
Did you even watch football that counted last season? QB controversy at Georgia. Ahahahahah GTFOH.
Bennett, congrats great game. Daniels is the #1.

We don't have a QB Controversy at Georgia JT Daniels is our starting QB not 5'5 Stetson Bennett

@RGIII if you think Georgia has a QB controversy, I’ve got some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you. Keep throwing footballs at trees

@RGIII to say there is a QB controversy at UGA is ridiculous. This is JT’s team. All Georgia fans dread Stetson. If this were a Power 5 opponent, JT would be under center. This is a get healthy game.
