Denver Broncos GM John Elway has shown his knack for collecting talent. On Sunday, the final day of the NFL Draft, Elway identified one such talent that he was willing to trade up for: Georgia WR and play-maker Isaiah McKenzie.

Elway wound up taking the risk – giving up a fifth and seventh-rounder to move up three spots and take McKenzie.

The Broncos’ GM, who is also well known as an NFL Hall of Fame quarterback, quickly tweeted out his rationalization for the pick, as well as some appreciation for McKenzie’s abilities that would suggest he could see the field early.

Elway’s Broncos are no strangers to SEC utility men, as speedy LSU return man Trindon Holliday once nearly won them a playoff game with two special teams touchdowns vs. the Ravens in 2013, setting a few NFL records in the process.

Last season, the Broncos ranked 27th in the league with 5,169 total yards from scrimmage. It’s no wonder, then, that a multi-faceted tool like McKenzie could add some spark to their ailing offense.
