David Marshall was trending away from Auburn and toward Georgia for several weeks now, and he made it official Wednesday by signing with the Bulldogs.

Marshall, a pass-rushing defensive end who’s 6-foot-2 and 256 pounds, was a three-star recruit from Thomaston, Ga. Mark Richt’s staff wasn’t all that interested in him and he was an early Auburn commit, siding with the Tigers back in November. But when Smart arrived in Athens, he made Marshall a priority.

Marshall came for an official visit the weekend of Jan. 22 and then came back the following weekend on his own to be sure he was comfortable in Athens. He’s a good add to Georgia’s defensive front.
