For those having a significant platform — as an athlete, musician, actor, philanthropist, or any noteworthy profession — one has the ability to promote causes aimed at helping people.

Using its mass popularity and notoriety across the Southeast region, the University of Georgia football program is attempting to raise awareness for an absolutely wonderful institution.

Head coach Kirby Smart announced Monday that the team will wear a helmet sticker for the Curing Kids Cancer program.

September is the National Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Cancer is also the leading cause of disease-related deaths among children worldwide.

Last season, Mississippi State and South Carolina both participated in the efforts. Steve Spurrier’s staff wore gold whistles and glow-in-the-dark wristbands. His family has also been active participants for years in the organization. Dan Mullen’s program also wore helmets stickers in 2015.
