Depth was a frequent topic of conversation for Kirby Smart throughout spring, especially with the defense.

On Wednesday, Smart’s defense lost some of that depth.

Junior linebacker Jaleel Laguins announced that he’ll transfer from UGA:

Laguins redshirted the 2017 season, but he was named one of 4 Georgia players to earn the Special Teams Scout Team Player Award. That was after a 2016 season in which he appeared in 6 games.

The Watkinsville, Georgia native was a former 4-star outside linebacker recruit and a U.S. Army All-American. He’ll have 2 years of eligibility remaining after he sits out the 2018 season at his new school, according to NCAA transfer rules.

Laguins became the second Georgia player to announce his transfer in as many days. Redshirt junior OL Pat Allen announced that he’d be leaving Georgia on Tuesday.
