Tailback Sony Michel has been named SEC Freshman of the Week for his performance against Troy on Saturday, according to a league announcement.

The Plantation, Fla. native ran for 155 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries in Georgia’s 66-0 rout of Troy. His performance included a 75-yard run, the longest for the Bulldogs since Todd Gurley had a 75-yard touchdown run in the 2013 season opener at Clemson.

Michel is the third Bulldog to earn weekly honors this season. Senior inside linebacker Amarlo Herrera was named the Defensive Player of the Week and junior running back Todd Gurley was dubbed SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after the Aug. 30 win over Clemson.
