Normally, being dubbed the best player at your position in college football is a high compliment.

When that statement comes from a Georgia legend and one of the best running backs ever, it’s royalty.

That’s what took place Saturday, when Todd Gurley stormed through the middle of the Clemson kickoff team and raced to the end zone for a touchdown.

As Gurley embarked on his 100-yard journey, Herschel Walker rose from his seat at Sanford Stadium, along with 92,744 Bulldog fans.  As the noise heightened and Walker screamed, it brought back a flood of memories for the former Bulldog and Heisman Trophy winner.

“Every time he touches the ball,” Walker said in an interview with Sports Illustrated, “you’re looking for something to happen.”

Gurley set a school record with his 293 all-purpose yards.

“Todd is the best running back in college football,” Walker said.  “Right now, you can’t argue that point.”
