Will Georgia finally bring back the black jerseys for the first time since 2008 in Kirby Smart’s first season as the Bulldogs head coach? That’s the question many fans are asking after a recruit tweeted out a picture of himself wearing a black jersey during his visit to Athens.

During an Atlanta donor event, Smart was asked that question Monday, however his response seemed to leave the question just as in doubt before it was asked.

“We’ll see. We’ll see where that goes,” Smart said according to Seth Emerson of Dawg Nation. “Nothing has been finalized yet.”

While breaking out the black jersey would likely lead to extra level of excitement and energy from both his team and the fan base, something Smart even acknowledged at the event, the first-year head coach wants his team focused on its opponent, more than its attire.

“There’s a lot of energy around that, and excitement,” Smart said. “But I’ve always been one that the energy and excitement should be focused on who you’re playing, not what you’re wearing.”

Sounds like a definitive maybe from Smart.

The acorn apparently doesn’t fall far from the Nick Saban coaching tree.
