The Georgia Bulldogs have lost a couple of talented quarterbacks the last two years in Jacob Eason (to Washington) and Justin Fields (to Ohio State).

However, Jake Fromm remains, and he’s been incredible as the starter for the Dawgs. Entering the 2019 season, though, the QB room could use some more depth.

During Georgia’s spring game on Saturday, backups Stetson Bennett and D’Wan Mathis performed well. Bennett had a couple of nice throws, and coach Kirby Smart was impressed by both players:

“I was pleased with the way Stetson and D’Wan managed not the huddle — because we don’t really huddle — but managed the game from the field,” he said. “That’s important. That’s important for their growth. They’re only going to get better through practicing and repping and playing in that kind of environment.”

Who will lock down the top backup job? That’s still unclear at this time, but both players have momentum heading into the summer.
