Georgia may have been on a bye this week, but that doesn’t mean the Bulldogs fell out of the national conversation.

At 7-0 through Week 8, the Bulldogs are, without a doubt, one of the best teams in the country, and have a chance to prove that down the stretch.

Though tough games loom against Florida, Auburn and others, SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy said on the “Buck and Kincade Show” last week that he believes coach Kirby Smart’s team will come out of the bye week even better than it was before (via 247Sports):

“This team’s only going to get better. That’s the scary thing for other SEC East foes,” McElroy said. “Because I’m really a big believer in the process that Kirby Smart’s trying to employ and the way he’s modeling is really similar to Bama with the physical nature of the way they play and how they just kind of lean on you on defense and eventually force you into making some bad decisions.

“They’re a really fun group to watch and I’m just so excited to see the trajectory that this program goes on in the years to come because of Kirby Smart and the way he’s leading these young guys.”

Smart does indeed have his team playing very well, and a potential showdown between undefeated Georgia and Alabama teams in the SEC Championship Game looms large should both squads take care of business.

Challenges await down the stretch, but with the way the Bulldogs have played so far this year, an undefeated season is certainly a possibility.
