One Georgia fall camp tradition that did not survive the transition from Kirby Smart to Mark Richt was the day trip to the pool.

Under Richt, Bulldog players were taken to the campus pool nearly every preseason for a day off from fall camp. Known as Ramsey Day, after the school’s Ramsey Aquatic Center, the trip was always highlighted by Richt diving off the high dive.

When asked about the potential off day under Smart, Georgia’s new head coach simply laughed that notion off immediately.

“Our guys understand that we’ve got work to do,” Smart said. “We’ve got a certain amount of time to get it in in that amount of time. Not to mention, I have no idea when I’ll lose a practice to rain, so the minute I do that (go to the pool) I could lose two. And I’ve got to keep that in my back pocket.”
