Georgia (3-0, 1-0) quarterback Jacob Eason was named SEC Freshman of the Week after completing 29-of-55 (52.7 percent) passes for 302 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in a 28-27 come-from-behind win at Missouri last Saturday.

That included a 10-play, 80-yard drive with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah McKenzie to give the Bulldogs a one-point lead with 1:29 remaining that ultimately sealed the deal.

It doesn’t get any easier for Eason and Georgia in Week 4, though. The team travels to Oxford to face a downtrodden Ole Miss opponent that is coming off its second loss to a top-5 team this season, this time in Alabama, and is in desperate need of a win.

Here’s what coach Kirby Smart had to say during Wednesday’s SEC teleconference:

On Missouri QB Drew Lock’s performance vs. UGA:

“I think a lot of the kid, he has a fast release and fantastic arm strength, good athleticism. Probably had some throws he wished he had back. We honestly didn’t do much different, just tried to play better (first half from the second).”

On going back out on the road again:

“It shortens the week a lot. It all depends on where you are playing. We didn’t get back from Mizzou until around 3:30 a.m. … We have to be smart, it changes the mindset; there’s not as much time to recovery. We are preaching recovery this week.”

On offensive line struggling against Missouri:

“It will continue to be a work in progress, and it’s no different than any position on this team. We need to find what we can improve on to beat the teams we have coming up.”

On DE Ryan Anderson from Alabama:

“He’s tough competitor, he really is. Enjoys the game, he’s one of the hardest performers I’ve been around.”

On Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly this season and his progression from 2015 to 2016:

“He looks the same to me [laughs]. He runs around, hard to get down, got a hose for an arm. He made some spectacular plays and he continues to do that his year.”

On what coach saw on Ole Miss vs. Alabama game film last week:

“A lot of great players, big plays. Between the turnovers and special teams play, defensively Ole Miss has tremendous pass rushers. There were guys out there competing, they were battling.”
