Here are five takeaways from Kentucky’s 20-10 loss to Missouri.

1. Kentucky has another inconsistent rushing performance: The weekly carousel of Kentucky running backs saw Stanley “Boom” Williams make his first career start. However, it was Mikel Horton who led the Wildcats with 62 yards on 10 carries. Kentucky has yet to find its most consistent performer at tailback and should continue to use several different players.

2. Patrick Towles added little to in rushing game: Patrick Towles accounted for most of the Wildcats running game last week. However, the redshirt sophomore was ineffective with just 26 yards on 11 attempts. Towles’ passing numbers weren’t much better, as he finished with 158 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 19-of-37 passing.

3. Kentucky struggled against the pass: Maty Mauk has struggled against SEC defenses throughout the season. However, that wasn’t the case against Kentucky as the sophomore threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns on 18-of-33 passing. Bud Sasser dominated the Wildcats secondary, catching both of Mauk’s touchdown passes and adding 67 yards on six receptions.

4. Too many missed opportunities: Despite a lack of offensive production, Kentucky remained in Saturday’s game throughout the contest. The Wildcats failed to capitalize on several scoring opportunities, which led to eventual scores by Missouri. Kentucky needs to see better production in its remaining matchups.

5.  Securing a bowl game will be a tough task: Kentucky needs one more win to secure bowl eligibility. However, the Wildcats have three tough matchups, including next week’s game against No. 9 Georgia. The Wildcats also have games at Tennessee and at Louisville to end their season, which should be difficult in tough road environments.
