Veteran LB Wesley Woodyard was instrumental in the Tennessee Titans’ win over the New England Patriots on Sunday, and he was honored for that performance by the NFL.

The former Kentucky standout, Woodyard is in his 11th season in the NFL and is having a career year.

Woodyard hit QB Tom Brady three times and had 1.5 sacks in the 34-10 victory. It was just the second time in the linebacker’s career that he tallied more than one sack in a game. That’s why he was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Woodyard is on pace for a career-high six sacks as he has 3.5 so far. He had five sacks last season, and in 2015, and in 2012 with the Denver Broncos, he had 5.5 for his best seasons as a pro.

Woodyard continues to exceed expectations since he was an undrafted free agent signed by Denver in 2008. This is the second time Woodyard received Player of the Week honors (Week 8, 2012).
