Heading into the 2017-18 season at Kentucky, G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was somewhat overlooked in a class that also included Kevin Knox, Hamidou Diallo, P.J. Washington, Jarred Vanderbilt, Nick Richards and Quade Green.

However, by the end of the year, SGA had earned the SEC Tournament’s MVP award and completed his journey from a semi-unheralded recruit to NBA lottery pick.

On Thursday night in Brooklyn, Gilgeous-Alexander was chosen by the Charlotte Hornets with the No. 11 overall pick in the draft. He was then traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for the No. 12 pick, which ended up being Michigan State F Miles Bridges.

SGA will try to become the next Chris Paul, who left the Clippers last year to head to the Houston Rockets.

In 37 games with the Wildcats, SGA started 24 times, averaging 14.1 points, 5.1 assists and 4.1 rebounds per night.
