Kentucky will be without starting quarterback Drew Barker for a chunk of time moving forward.

Speaking with the media Wednesday, Mark Stoops revealed that Barker will be out “a significant amount of time,” according to Kentucky Sports Radio’s Matt Jones.

247Sports reports that the sophomore could miss at least three to four weeks and possibly the rest of the season, but that his back injury does not need surgery.

Barker played exceptionally well in the first half of Kentucky’s season opener, tossing four touchdowns against Southern Mississippi before halftime, but has struggled since.

After Barker was sidelined due to the back injury against New Mexico State, Stephon Johnson took over at quarterback for Kentucky and threw for 310 yards with 3 touchdowns in the victory.
